- [Bridging the digital divide: Empowering female refugees for inclusive employment](https://runomi.org/bridging-the-digital-divide-empowering-female-refugees-in-the-netherlands/): In an era where digital skills are a prerequisite for most jobs, a lack of digital literacy can be a significant barrier to employment. For female refugees in the Netherlands, this digital divide presents a major challenge, limiting their ability to access work opportunities and integrate into the labour market. The DigiSkills2Work project, coordinated by RUNOMI member Giacomo Solano, aims to address this pressing issue by investigating the link between digital skills and employment opportunities for female refugees.

Or when a place you had studied from a distance suddenly confronted you with emotions you had not anticipated? When I first set foot in Cyprus for my fieldwork, I thought I was well prepared. Months of reading, writing, and thinking about Cyprus and its buffer zone had given me what I thought was a reasonable understanding of the country and its many complexities. But once there, I realized that no amount of reading could prepare me for the emotions and contradictions I encountered.

Rachel Kollar challenges this narrative. Her study shows that Islam is certainly not an obstacle to political participation; in fact, it inspires some Muslims to engage in democracy. This mobilization is driven primarily by the belief that they should be good citizens, stand up against injustice, and ensure that their interests are represented in politics.

This system, which predicts youth reoffending based on police records, often produces inaccurate results and reflects biases in law enforcement.

This marks the launch of the RUNOMI-Risbo Knowledge Program on Labour Migration, ensuring that critical research on labour migration continues sustainably, with valuable data and insights remaining accessible to the scientific community. KCA’s board will stay involved as an informal advisory council.

Noemi Mena Montes was an excellent Chair (we missed fellow panel co-chair and organizer Giacomo Solano), and we received thoughtful discussant input from Pascal Beckers. I presented “Navigating digital (hybrid) marketplace labour platforms,” looking at new (or perhaps reconfigured/perpetuated) dynamics affecting migrant parents and (often also migrant) domestic workers, with the rise of online marketplace platforms (like babysitting apps or Facebook groups).

- [RUNOMI team at Night of the Refugee](https://runomi.org/runomi-team-at-night-of-the-refugee/): Last week, a group of RUNOMI walked 20 kilometres during the Night of the Refugee, organized by Stichting Vluchteling. We raised more than €2.000 for emergency aid to people on the run all over the world. We are very thankful for all donations and we are excited that we even doubled our donation goal! In total, €1,3 million were raised during the night. Well done everybody and let’s do it again next year!
